      IF I PUT IN A SALE DO I HAVE TO THEN ALSO AUTHORIZE IT SEPARATELY?

      No.  If you run a credit card sale, the transaction will complete or decline.  Authorizations are only used when you want to authorize a card before you actually run the transaction.  See Authorization
